What is ISO 14001
ISO 14001 - The environment: a hot topic in society for some time now. In the corporate world, too, you cannot avoid the subject. As an organisation, you want to limit the impact on the environment as much as possible. You want to improve your environmental performance in order to contribute to a better living environment. ISO 14001 certification demonstrates that you are actively working on your organisation's environmental performance.
Meaning of ISO 14001
ISO 14001 is the internationally recognised standard that clearly indicates what a good environmental management system should meet, supported by requirements. ISO 14001 was developed by the International Organisation for Standardisation. In the Netherlands the standard has been translated by the Nederlands Normalisatie Instituut (NEN). You can order the complete official standard from the NEN.
With an ISO 14001 certificate, you demonstrate that you comply with environmental legislation and regulations. Your organisation puts environmental performance first and continually strives to minimise its impact on the environment.
Why would you obtain an ISO 14001 certificate?
When implementing the ISO 14001, you map out various environmental aspects and draw up actions to control and improve them. This standard was created for the organisation that understands that systematically implementing environmental aspects will pay for itself, for example by saving energy, creating new market opportunities, improving relations with government agencies and, last but not least, positively improving your organisation’s image. You show that your organisation is well and continuously concerned with the environment, you save the environment and operate in a sustainable way.
